Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort, located in Olympic Valley near Lake Tahoe, California, is the largest ski resort in the Lake Tahoe region, renowned for its vast and varied terrain. Formerly known as Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. The resort has a rich Olympic legacy as the host of the 1960 Winter Olympics and is famous for its challenging terrain, especially steep chutes, bowls, and famous freeride areas like The Palisades.
The village at Palisades Tahoe features a lively and welcoming atmosphere with over 50 bars, restaurants, and boutiques, many locally owned. Dining options range from casual eateries to upscale restaurants, providing a great après-ski experience in a sun-soaked mountain setting.
The Village is small with a nice array of diing options and for those with a car you can drop down to nearby Truckee or Tahoe City for more apres ski dining and shopping options.

WHAT IS THE SKIING LIKE AT PALISADES TAHOE?
it offers 6,000 skiable acres across two mountains, with over 270 trails serviced by 43 lifts, including a unique funitel and gondola connecting to Alpine Meadows.
With the most skiable terrain in North Lake Tahoe (over 6,000 acres), 40 lifts, nine mountain peaks, and terrain to suit any level or desire.
Beginner
25% of the terrain is designated for beginners. The beginner areas are located on the upper mountain, accessed by the aerial tram, providing gentle, wide-open slopes with spectacular views of Lake Tahoe. There is also a smaller beginner zone at the base of Alpine with chairlifts and magic carpets, making it ideal for novices to build skills in a scenic environment.
Intermediate
About 45% of the trails cater to intermediate skiers. These runs include long cruisers and varied terrain across both mountains, allowing intermediates to enjoy expansive, groomed trails as they improve.
Advanced
Around 30% of the terrain is advanced and expert level. This includes famous challenging terrain such as KT-22 with steep chutes, bowls, and technical descents, making it a playground for expert skiers and freeskiers.

Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort is very suitable for families, offering a comprehensive range of kid-friendly amenities, activities, and services. The resort has dedicated beginner areas with gentle slopes, practice lifts, and magic carpets that make it easy and safe for children to learn skiing. The well-regarded ski schools accept children from age 3, starting with beginner groups on flat terrain before progressing to chairlift-serviced runs. Babysitting services can also be arranged with advance notice.
Beyond skiing, families can enjoy a variety of fun winter activities including snow tubing, tobogganing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and mini snowmobiling for kids aged 6 to 12. The SnoVentures Activity Zone near The Village offers snowtubing facilities with its own lift, adding to the family fun. The resort also features pools and hot tubs for relaxation.
Lodging options in the Village and Olympic Valley provide ski-in/ski-out convenience, ideal for families to avoid commuting hassles.
